NFL playoff bracket

Indiana and Miami battle for College Football supremacy
Tonight at Hard Rock Stadium, the college football season reaches its climax in a matchup that few experts predicted when the first whistles blew in August. The No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers (15-0), chasing a perfect season and their first-ever national title, meet the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes (13-2), a storied program looking to reclaim its "The U" glory with a sixth national championship.
A Historic Conflict of Programs
This game is a fascinating study in contrasts. Indiana enters as the "new blood"—a program that had never won 10 games in a single season before this year, now standing 60 minutes away from an undefeated 16-0 campaign. Under head coach Curt Cignetti, the Hoosiers have been a "meat grinder," winning both of their playoff games by more than 30 points.
Miami, conversely, is the "blue blood" seeking restoration. Despite having five national titles in their trophy case, the Hurricanes haven't won one since 2001. Playing in their own stadium—Hard Rock—they have become the "Giant Killers" of the tournament, taking down Ohio State and Ole Miss to earn this spot.
Key Matchups: The Mendoza-Beck Duel
The spotlight will be firmly on the quarterbacks, both of whom have local ties to the Miami area.
Fernando Mendoza (Indiana): The Heisman Trophy winner and Miami native has been surgical, throwing for 3,349 yards and 41 touchdowns this season. His ability to stay cool under pressure has been the engine behind Indiana's high-powered offense.
Carson Beck (Miami): After a quiet regular season, Beck has found his rhythm in the playoffs. He led the Hurricanes to a nail-biting 31-27 win over Ole Miss in the semifinals and will need to handle an Indiana defense that leads the nation in sacks (47).
By The Numbers
Category | Indiana Hoosiers (No. 1) | Miami Hurricanes (No. 10) |
Record | 15-0 | 13-2 |
Points Per Game | 42.6 | 31.0 |
Points Allowed | 10.8 (1st in FBS) | 14.0 (5th in FBS) |
Rush Defense | 75.0 YPG | 86.5 YPG |
The Line | Indiana -8.5 | -- |
The "Home Field" Factor
In a rare twist of fate, the Hurricanes are playing for the national title in their home stadium, though they are technically the designated visiting team. The "Orange Out" expected at Hard Rock Stadium could provide a massive emotional edge for Miami, but they face an Indiana team that has outscored playoff opponents 94-25 so far.
What’s at Stake?
For Indiana, a win would cement one of the greatest turnarounds in the history of American sports. For Miami, a win would signal that the program is officially "back," winning a title on their own turf after 25 years of waiting.
