Sallisaw residents pleads guilty to firearms

MUSKOGEE The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Marlina Dawn Hardbarger, 49, of Sallisaw, entered a guilty plea to one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The Indictment alleged that on Sept. 10, 2025, having previously been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year and knowing of such conviction, knowingly possessed one .223-5.56mm caliber semi-automatic rifle.

The charge arose from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office.

Gerald L. Jackson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.

A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Hardbarger will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.

Malone, Russo Join Cowboy Football Staff

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State football coach Eric Morris added two more staff members Tuesday, naming Jordan Malone as defensive backs coach and Ethan Russo as Executive Director of Player Personnel.

Malone worked under Morris and OSU defensive coordinator Skyler Cassity at North Texas in 2025 and was also on staff with Morris at Washington State in 2022. Russo, who worked at Wisconsin in 2025, served under Morris at UNT in 2023 and 2024.

A 2006 graduate of Minnesota State, Malone is a 20-year coaching veteran who has worked with defensive backs for most of his career. He worked as the nickels and outside linebackers coach for the Mean Green in 2025 and had stints at Washington State, Minnesota State and others.

Russo has worked in football more than a decade and has held a player personnel role since 2019. In addition to his stops at Wisconsin and North Texas, he has also worked for UNLV, Utah, Rice, the Indianapolis Colts, the Cleveland Browns and TCU.

All university hires are pending completion of a background check.

Arkansas Runs Past Queens, 108-80

FAYETTEVILLE – Trevon Brazile made his first seven shots, including 4 3-pointers, in scoring a career-high 26 points while Darius Acuff Jr. had 23 points and 10 assists (with zero turnovers) to lead #14 Arkansas to a 108-80 victory over Queens on Tuesday night at Bud Walton Arena.

Brazile, the reigning SEC Player of the Week, finished by making a career-high five 3-pointers and was a career-best 9-of-11 from the field while adding three assists and three steals.

Acuff, the two-time reigning SEC Freshman of the Week, becomes the first Razorback to score at least 20 points (23) and have at least 10 assists (10) with zero turnovers. He added three steals as well.

Overall, Arkansas had six players score in double figures, including a season-high 15 points from Billy Richmond III, a season-high 14 points from Nick Pringle, 11 points from Karter Knox and 10 points from D.J. Wagner.

The Razorbacks used two big runs in the first half to open a sizable lead. Then, early in the second half, Richmond scored eight points in an 8-2 run (two free throws, a 3-pointer, a layup and a dunk) to put the Hogs up 33.

Arkansas had season highs in 3-pointers made with 14 (also tying the most by Arkansas in the Calipari era) and assists with 25 (second-most in the Calipari era). Defensively, Arkansas held Queens to six 3-pointers – half their season average – and just 24% shooting from deep (6-of-25).

Nasir Mann led Queens with 16 points while Maban Jabriel and Avantae Parker added 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Arkansas returns to the road to face #8 Houston on Saturday (Dec. 20) in the Never Forget Tribute Classic, played in Newark, N.J. Tipoff is set for 4:30 pm and the game will be televised on CBS.

Donald LeRoy Green service planned

Donald Leroy Green funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Bengal School with Bro. Randy Holmes officiating and Sal Walden doing the obituary.

He was born Feb. 15, 1937 in Wister to Evie Green, and passed away Dec. 14, 2025.

Survivors are his wife of 65 years Ruth; his daughter Teresa; his son Roger and wife Marsha and Shane and his wife Cyndi; his grandkids Karie, Amber, Roy and his wife Kayla, Shaelyn and her husband Tanner, Ryan, Chance and his wife Kenie, Cheryl, and Ciera and her husband Jesse.
